- Our School
I consider it a privilege to serve the Whittier community as the new principal of Rancho Starbuck Intermediate School. The 2021-22 school year will be my twenty-third year as an educator having served previously in two different districts. My educator experience includes being a middle school science teacher, high school science teacher, high school assistant principal and for the past decade, a middle school principal. From the first moment I stepped on campus, I felt the unity of this school community and I could not be more proud to join this amazing team of educators. Our team is dedicated and committed to the success of every child as we prepare them for high school and all of the opportunities that may follow. While the uncertainties of COVID protocols remain, we are grateful to be back on campus together and will make each day a great day of learning and fun.
Our focus will include an emphasis on a robust academic program which includes but is not limited to high expectations, digital citizenship, character, and support systems when necessary. Behavior expectations will be taught and reinforced to ensure the campus is safe, orderly and inviting. It is our mission to provide your child a wealth of opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom to help them find their niche and increase their connectivity to school through a diverse set of programs and activities.
The success of every child involves the partnership between the school community and families. My hope is for all parents to partner in their child’s school experience and to get involved. Monitoring activities through social networking activities such as Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and other means of online communication is more crucial than ever. Understanding the implications of your child’s digital footprint is critical for opportunities that lie ahead in college and the workforce.
I look forward to meeting you in-person and having an exciting and productive school year. Please know my door is always open to you and I highly encourage you to build relationships with our Rancho team to strengthen the home to school partnership.
